It took five or six nights of trying before she managed even to hover six feet off the ground. She had been useless in sorcery. Was she doomed to be useless at everything? It was a pleasure, finally, to scare the barn owls and bats senseless. And it was good to be abroad. When she had more confidence, she wobbled far down the valley to the remains of the Ozma Regent's attempt at a dam; she rested and hoped that she wouldn't have to walk back. She didn't. The broom was resistant to her intention, but she could aways threaten it with fire.

She felt like a night angel.

"You do not compete with me."
- Professor Legendary

Of course, causing my eyes to temporarily jut out from their sockets; a nanosecond blackout accompanying the short prayer I said in my head after the guy in front chose to whisper to his seatmate while Professor Legendary was discussing the course syllabus.

It was a very good first day at school.

A man is chopping trees outside my window.

Tonight, my mother "celebrates" her birthday. The house is still being prepped to a (photo) finish while I'm running to and fro making potato salad and finalizing afternoon errands. My friends from high school are also coming over. That's always a treat.

I'm already halfway through Gregory Maguire's Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. I love it. It has the feel of a Harry Potter book. But with sex and stuff.

And would you look at that, Julian drew Elphaba!

Galinda seemed to give up. She leaned her head back on the velvet cushions of the swing and said, "Boq, you know despite myself I think you're a little sweet. You're a little sweet and you're a little charming and you're a little maddening and you're a little habit-forming."

Boq held his breath.

"But you're little!" she concluded. "You're a Munchkin, for god's sake!"

He kissed her, he kissed her, he kissed her, little by little by little.

Happy 47th birthday to my mama, Jane!

I took that pic in our condo in Katipunan. My sister and I live on the twelfth floor so it has a nice view of the area. Also, if I happen to suck at exams I can always make a leap for it and defy gravity. Haha. Kidding.

There's a better pic of The Mom in my other blog.

New layout, everyone :-) The quotation to your right is by Mr. Kurt Vonnegut. God bless his soul. Archiving my posts got me all interested to improve this blog so I went around Blogskins and tweaked a couple of codes and images. Ta-dah!

It's my mother's birthday this Tuesday (June 5), and she got this really big cake from her co-workers in Smart. I had to divide the whole thing and stuff them into two Pyrex dishes. Haha. Call me your sugar highness.

So here's the rub: I decided to archive my posts (June '05-present) here in Waterstained. A couple of weeks ago, I installed a hit counter and was surprised to look at my blog's statistics. The fact of the matter is, people other than myself actually find time to drop by and say hello, and I am very grateful for that.

After putting up the codes in Blogger and creating the path for my archives, I went as far as reading all my past entries. Funny how my posts get shorter. And it's not brevity, hell no. It's just that I've grown to be very conscious of what I write that I actually end up spewing monosyllables and pretty cryptic stuff.

So there, hehe. Enjoy the archives and God bless you all.
