This afternoon I went to two malls and got in the pit with the payday mob while over in the US of A, they're going crazy with Black Friday.
Jdimytai Damous, a temporary maintenance worker from Wal-Mart, died while trying to control the bargain-hungry crowd. Wal-Mart issued the following statement: "We expected a large crowd this morning and added additional internal security, additional third-party security, additional store associates and we worked closely with the Nassau County police. We also erected barricades. Despite all of our precautions, this unfortunate event occurred." I am angry. I am sad. (source: NYDailyNews.com)

You're incontrovertibly stuck in il y a if you don't love Mister Kabab. I always get the beef Special Chelo (w/ pita) and an extra order of grilled tomatoes. But:

You know you've walked around too much when you start tinkering with your pinky toe while asking yourself why you can never be Louise Gluck. Scuff off a sliver and tah dah, short-lived gratification.
I'm proud to announce that I've been trike-celibate since returning to Manila. I like walking. Even to the train station, I do, rain and all. This afternoon while walking to Xanland, I thought I'd try out the deep-fried empanada. Smells nice; Methinks it would have been better if consumed fresh and crispy from the sweltering, golden rivers of corpulence. Nevertheless, if you ordered the vegetarian variant like I did, skip the dipping sauce: it is fermented evil. What they claim to be "empanada" is actually crescent-shaped tokneneng filled with substandard mayo, veggies, and egg. It shall cost your life 38 pesos; 40 pesos if you're partial to meat. ![]() Look at me, mom... (photo: Pinoy Food & Other Cuisine Last night, I watched Twilight sponsored by Gorm. I admit to laughing randomly. Then again, I could be wrong. My advice: if you haven't an idea of the plot/characters, then leave whatever sensibility you have at the door. Let go. Surrender yourself to the sexual tension, to the excessive brooding, to the utter lack of melanin, to the token black vampire who wasn't at all "pale-skinned". Not even a shade lighter, no! You will have enjoyed your night. You will have transcended your usual, post-tween self.

"There are times when we can do all that a fellow creature needs if only he will trust us."
- C.S. Lewis And on an irrelevant (well, not entirely) yet important note, I am looking for bargains on the following titles: 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.) Faust (Goethe) 5.) 6.) Please. Help. Ebooks make me dizzy. Don't like photocopies either because they're spineless (...har). Nothing beats a second-hand book that smells like knowledge and grandma.

![]() Yes we can repair this world. Yes we can. We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

I prettified Lola Nita's grave with white flowers yesterday. Angelicum (Canduman, Cebu) is such a lovely cemetery. Or 'memorial garden.'
I've never really celebrated Halloween in my twenty years so I'll skip that part. Though the folks over at Rustan's Supermarket (Ayala Cebu) had awesome outfits. The cashier lady was a Japanese Lolita something and our bagger dude was The Punisher. I failed to bring a camera with me. Disappointment, thus! Now, to sign or not to sign... |
